We all wish and wish no end that we could retreat to those days again but only if wishes were horses, because of the current situation we cannot do that. Well let us relish what is in our hands. Here are five movies that will transport you to distant lands straight from your home.


1) The Darjeeling Limited


Released In 2007, starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman, ‘ The Darjeeling Limited’ shot In India is a story of three estranged brothers Jack, Francis and Peter who decide to recover and rediscover their lost bond a year after their father’s death. The brothers set out on a train journey across India with eleven suitcases, an itinerary, loads of painkillers and a pepper spray. The journey takes a turn when the brothers find themselves stranded in the middle of a desert. The movie is a delight for travel lovers and people who want to see more of India since this flick will surely transfer you on the train journey along with the brothers.

2) Seven Years In Tibet


Want to explore and experience Tibet and its culture? If yes then this blockbuster is for you. Seven Years in Tibet, starring Brad Pitt, David Thewlis and Jamyong Wongchuk is based on the autobiography of Heinrich Harrer an Austrian climber who escapes India as a Prisoner of War and goes to the holy city of Lhasa, Tibet, where he becomes friend with the 14th Dalai Lama, who asks Harrer to build a movie theatre for him. The movie has beautifully captured the land and culture of Tibet. Besides the locations, the bond between Harrer and Dalai Lama is certainly worth watching and don’t miss out the amazing life lessons that you will inculcate from this movie.

3) Into The Wild


Based on the book of the same title by John Krakauer, ‘ Into The Wild’ revolves around the hitchhiking journey of a young man Christopher John McCandless who comes from a well to do family in 1992 gave up all his savings and most of his possessions, sets out on a hitchhiking journey to Alaska and walks alone into the wilderness of Mount McKinely . The movie will surely take you on the hitchhiking journey along with Christopher.

4) Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani


One of my favourite movie, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is about a travel enthusiast Kabir Thapar a.k.a Bunny who is obsessed with travelling and has a life goal of travelling the whole world. The movie has been shot in so many exquisite locations like Manali and Paris that it certainly won’t fail to give you wanderlust and motivate you to move out and explore. The movie is a blessing for those who wish to fly, run, fall but never stop. This movie is a complete package and an absolute delight for those who are enthusiastic about travelling and exploring. YJHD is a must watch.

5) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara



Last but definitely not the least, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The movie is about three friends Kabir, Imran and Arjun who respite to Spain before Kabir’s wedding.

This flick is shot entirely in Spain and the movie has perfectly showcased the beautiful locations of the country, besides locations you will also see the famous Tomatina Festival and The Running of The Bulls.

Friendships, relationships and facing fears are the themes so perfectly entwined in the movie. It is solely based on the expression “ Feel free, Let go and Conquer”


This blockbuster is a must watch, you can check it out on Prime Video and Netflix.
